Madness of consuming culture
Most of us never think that we are a slave of this consuming culture, because it's part of our life since we are borne.
For example when we deal with headache, we naturally think what can we do to fix it. This kind of thinking is "consuming mind". There are solution (pretended) provided for many things, and we are lead to use this "solution" which actually "conditioning" of the problem at that moment not even solving from its root. Gradually we accept an idea of "patching is the solution." This patching solution requires your action, money, related to someone and so on. In other word, you have to bring some action in order to get the solution. Action is consuming.
"Ishwara Praniyada", is one of Yamas and Niyamas' teach from Ashtanga Yoga (not that modern style of Yoga most of people recognize.) which translate as "surrender" . Surrender to pain, surrender to whatever you are dealing with at a moment. It's a simple translation but it holds deeper meaning which you will learn with your "real" yoga teacher as you are doing sahdana (spiritual practice).
What is so crazy about the consuming mind is that most of people even not recognized our own consuming behavior. Even a way of breath is hacked by consuming mind from my observation.
Other unpleasant gift of this consuming culture is that people forgot to pick up the mess you created. Have you realized that so many trashes everywhere. When we see trashes on the curve in highway everyday, our brain accept it as it is. If your child is grown up in that environment, trash everywhere environment became their standard, and reflects in his mind too. Your kid's mind is filled with trash and they feel comfortable with it.
With this consuming culture we are forced to be forgotten to have a choice of "do nothing" for solving problem. Sometimes the best answer is
Let it be, and meanwhile pick the mess up we created in the past.
